Advanced Modelling
Advanced computational modelling techniques provide bespoke fire engineering designs that facilitate architecturally complex buildings and can provide significant cost savings. Vulcan Fire Engineering has significant expertise in fire and smoke modelling (Computational Fluid Dynamics), radiation analysis, evacuation analysis, smoke control and pressurisation system design.
Existing Buildings
By providing commentary on “as nearly as is reasonably practicable” (ANARP) design features and remedial work, we deliver the most cost-effective and practical solutions to meet clients’ needs. We have extensive experience working with existing buildings undergoing alterations or change of use to demonstrate Building Code compliance in accordance with Section 112 and Section 115 of the Building Act.

Peer Review
Chartered Professional Fire Engineer Gillian Stopford is experienced and qualified to undertake peer reviews for regulatory compliance where a Producer Statement Design Review (PS2) is required. We deliver peer review services including high-risk buildings and complex modelling. Registered Auckland Council Producer Statement author.
Construction Monitoring
Vulcan Fire Engineering provide construction observation services to ensure fire safety requirements are correctly interpreted and implemented on-site. We administer construction monitoring, site observation reports and on-site design/construct solutions including Producer Statement Construction Review (PS4).

PRINCIPAL FIRE ENGINEERPrincipal Fire Engineer Gillian Stopford is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over twenty years of international experience including more than ten years in New Zealand. Her expertise covers fire and smoke modelling, evacuation analysis, smoke control and pressurisation system design, fire protection systems and building design and construction. Working closely with clients, architects, and design teams she ensures that the fire engineering design is integrated with the operational requirements and architectural vision for the building or structure.
